It was on this day in 1978… Sting, Stuart Copeland and Andy Summers filmed a TV commercial for Wrigley’s Spearmint Gum’s new “Feel Youthful” campaign… They asked the trio if they could dye their hair blonde and spike it up to look more “Punk Rock”… They liked the look and decided to keep it as their signature style…
See? They were all originally brunettes!
Interestingly enough… the commercial NEVER AIRED!
Guitarist Andy Summers says that it was puzzling, because only a year later, The Police were one of the biggest bands in the world… Why Wrigley never capitalized on it is a mystery… [More]

On This day in 1965… The Rolling Stones made their U.S. Television Debut on a little-known show called “Hullabaloo”!
The variety show was like another called “Shindig”, and featured pop and rock artists performing live…
You’d think The Rolling Stones would debut on Ed Sullivan or at least American Bandstand… but instead, their manager chose “Hullabaloo” because they were told they wouldn’t have to lip-sync – which they hated… AND the show competed with Dick Clark’s American Bandstand – which they also hated. Actually it was Dick Clark who had stated that he didn’t like The Stones.

Rick lost his left arm in a terrible car crash on New Year’s Eve 1984… they tried to re-attach it, but an infection set in and they eventually had to amputate.
The guys in the band never gave up on him… encouraging Rick to figure out a way to continue with some drum kit set-up ideas… It was the drummer for the band “Status Quo”, Jeff Rich who designed the first special drum set that gave Rick the ability to use [More]

Happy Birthday to the oldest living Rolling Stone!!
Bill Wyman, longtime bassist for the greatest living rock band was born on this day in 1936! wow. 80.
Born William George Perks, Jr… Bill wasn’t a founding member, he replaced original bassist Dick Taylor in 1962 and was with The Stones until 1993!
Even though he was “The Old Man”- married with a full-time job and the oldest of the group, they hired him because he could build and repair amps… and the fact that he was a kick-ass bottom-layer!
He’s still kickin’ it live, too! Check him out on the headless bass with his [More]
