A recent World Health Organization report dropped a bombshell on bacon lovers: The breakfast staple and other processed meats apparently are linked to a cancer risk as high as that posed by cigarettes.
But the world’s oldest person probably will be unfazed by that news.
According to USA Today, 116-year-old Susannah Mushatt Jones, who was honored as the world’s oldest woman earlier this year by Guinness World Records, eats bacon for breakfast every day. Tech Insider reports that Jones considers the food “one of her secrets to longevity.”
The Alabama native, who now lives in New York, even lauds the pork product with a sign in her kitchen: “Bacon makes everything better.”
