I love this guy, and I’m gonna shake his hand the next time I’m in Austin, Texas… and gain about 5 pounds.

Remember the ZZ Top album “Tres Hombres”?  When you opened up the album gatefold… there was that… feast!  A Mexican Food Fandango!! (sorry to mix albums…)

This guy… Thomas Micklethwait, an Austin restauranteur… RE-CREATED the whole layout… then ATE IT… and filmed it!

It’s gonna be a tough night for Neil Schon and Gregg Rolie… BOTH are in Santana AND Journey!

Gregg was the lead singer on all of Santana’s classics with Neil playing guitar with them as well…  So when Carlos Santana linked up with Journey for this upcoming short tour… They knew they’d have to do double-duty!

Now… if only there was an Atlanta date…

That Time I Had Breakfast With Bowie…

  • 4:14 pm Monday, January 11th, 2016 by Steve Craig

David Bowie’s closest friends and fellow artists are calling his new album “Blackstar” an amazing “parting gift” that he knew would be his last.  The video for his song “Lazarus” reminds me of what Johnny Cash did with the song “Hurt” when he knew that he was dying…  Here it is, if you haven’t seen this yet… Heartbreaking.

I’ll never forget the wonderful morning acoustic performance he gave fans at Smith’s Olde Bar in 1997 when he hosted “Breakfast with Bowie”.  A gentle and approachable legend. The best kind.  ‘He laughed and shook my hand’.

Here’s the entire interview and performance with 99X’s [More]

Billy & Jimmy – Drunken Beasts!!

On This Day In 2004 – Ray Davies Shot!!

  • 3:41 pm Tuesday, January 5th, 2016 by Steve Craig

It reads like a verse from “Father Christmas”… including the fact that it happened about a week after Christmas in 2004…

Ray Davies of The Kinks was walking with his girlfriend through the French Quarter of New Orleans, when a robber jumped out of a car and grabbed her purse…

Ray tried to chase down the thief, but he turned and shot at the singer,  hitting him in the leg!

There’s SO much more to this True-Crime story…
