Remembering another Palmer this morning…
On This Day back in 2003… Robert Palmer died of a heart attack in Paris.
You probably first heard his stuff back in the late 70’s with “Bad Case of Loving You (Doctor Doctor)” and “Lookin’ for Clues” but it was in the early 80’s when he teamed up with a couple of Durannies and a disco drummer to form The Power Station when he found his fame!
The Power Station gave us the drivin’ beats that would lay the foundation for his most memorable songs, both containing the now iconic background girls from the Terrance Donovan-directed videos [More]

Today marks the anniversary of the 1st Farm Aid Benefit Concert in 1985…
It was organized by Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and Neil Young, and they still run it and perform on stage every year!
Back in ’85, Bob Dylan was onstage at Live Aid, the concert organized for Ethiopian famine relief, and he stated that he hoped some of the money could be used to help American farmers who were struggling with their mortgages. The Rock and Country world heard the call, and it’s now an annual event held in various rural locations around the country! Dave matthews has jumped on [More]

September 21st in 1985… We had a new #1 song in the U.S…
“Money For Nothing” from Dire Straits!
Arguably one of the greatest MTV videos ever… it was WAY ahead of it’s time with regard to computer animation… geez, we’ve come a LONG way in 30 years! That’s Sting in the beginning & end with his “I Want My MTV” sung to the tune of “Don’t Stand So Close To Me”.
Check out the video! oh, BTW… “that bad part” has been edited so you millennials don’t have to run to your safe zone.

Former Eagles lead guitarist Don Felder is 69 today!
He joined the band in the middle of their “country-rock” early period, eventually replacing Bernie Leadon as The Eagles headed in a more rock direction. in the late 70’s, he became famous for his “dueling guitar” sound with Joe Walsh who joined the band shortly after Don.
He got a really crappy birthday present this week when he learned that he, Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner (ALL major members of Eagles throughout their classic period) are NOT being given Kennedy Center Honors next year with the band, even after 10,000 poeple signed a [More]

A Couple of memorable Rock Anniversary’s today…
On This Day in 1980 – Ozzy Osbourne released his debut solo album away from Black Sabbath… Blizzard of Oz gave us his signature song…
40 Years Ago Today in 1976… AC/DC released one of their biggest albums of the Bon Scott Era… “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap”! It didn’t chart until after Bon’s death and the popularity of the “Back In Black” album, hitting the Top 5 in 1981.
I love Brian Johnson’s work, (I do hope he gets back with ’em soon) but that evil warbling of Bon Scott is what gave AC/DC [More]
