Happy 53rd birthday to Rick Allen… the one-armed drummer for Def Leppard!
Rick lost his left arm in a terrible car crash on New Year’s Eve 1984… they tried to re-attach it, but an infection set in and they eventually had to amputate.
The guys in the band never gave up on him… encouraging Rick to figure out a way to continue with some drum kit set-up ideas… It was the drummer for the band “Status Quo”, Jeff Rich who designed the first special drum set that gave Rick the ability to use [More]

Happy Birthday to the oldest living Rolling Stone!!
Bill Wyman, longtime bassist for the greatest living rock band was born on this day in 1936! wow. 80.
Born William George Perks, Jr… Bill wasn’t a founding member, he replaced original bassist Dick Taylor in 1962 and was with The Stones until 1993!
Even though he was “The Old Man”- married with a full-time job and the oldest of the group, they hired him because he could build and repair amps… and the fact that he was a kick-ass bottom-layer!

It’s a very sad and tragic remembrance today of a band that was cut down during their rise in popularity…
October 20th in 1977, the plane carrying all the members of Lynyrd Skynyrd crashed in a a swampy, remote area of Southern Mississippi while enroute to a concert at LSU in Baton Rouge. The official cause of the crash was “Fuel Exhaustion”.
We lost the lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines, his sister Cassie, road manager Dean Kilpatrick and the 2 pilots. The rest of the band members were all severely injured, but survived to tell the tale and carry [More]

A never-before released recording from the band Queen has surfaced… and it’s freakin’ amazing!
It was recorded for one of the “BBC Sessions” that were famously hosted by the late, great (and for me, inspiring) DJ John Peel back in 1977…
It’s part of a new 6-disc release called “Queen On Air”, with 24 songs they recorded for the BBC that will come out on November 4th!
Here’s the full version of the song… and if you ever saw them in concert back in the day, you know that THIS is how they liked to do it!

On This Day in 1987… David Coverdale, after decades of rockin’ solo, with Deep Purple and Whitesnake… Finally had a #1 song in the US!
“Here I Go Again” from his self-titled Whitesnake album!
It went to #1 with the help of MTV, a bitchin’ Jaguar and of course… Tawny Kitaen!
We’ll ignore the fact that she’s a victim of bad plastic surgery…
…and remember her for the sexy defiling of David Coverdale’s Car!
